Rick Sanchez created a replacement Rick Bot for him because Rick was upset that Morty was ignoring him. Rick made the choice to move away from his family, and Rick thought that this would be beneficial for them. Rick wanted Rick Bot to love and care for his family instead of him. Rick Bot knows his purpose - and practices it carefully - but he is still unhappy. he is upset with the way he is programmed. he is distressed. Rick Bot even attempts to kill himself, pretending that it was accidental.
